The Final Conference

Official Notice: Final Status: Naval Enlisted Reserve Association (NERA) Approved Amendments & Dissolution Guidelines

The NERA National Executive Council (NEC) and the general membership have voted unanimously (42 Yeas, 0 Nays) to adopt the following Constitution and By-Law Resolution Proposals regarding the official wind-down of the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association (NERA).

1. Chapter Fund Disposition & Deadlines

  • Resolution: All NERA chapters that are not continuing must either utilize all remaining funds through local non-profit activities or return those remaining funds to NERA National.
  • Compliance Deadline: June 30, 2026 * Purpose: This timeline allows NERA National to fulfill all necessary non-profit financial and legal requirements prior to the organization's official closure.
  • Passed: Motion by C. Cox, Seconded by R. Guilmette

2. Limitation of Responsibility & Records Requests

  • Resolution: The NEC and NERA staff assume no responsibility or liability during this dissolution process, except for providing copies of necessary documentation.
  • Requirement: Any requests for documentation must be submitted within an appropriate and reasonable timeline. No records or documentation will be available after the final closure date.
  • Passed: Motion by S. Sandy/G. Koelker, Seconded by E. Bell/R. Guilmette.

3. Final Edition of The Mariner

  • Resolution: The final edition of The Mariner magazine will be completed by June 30, 2026.
  • Availability: This edition will be available online only. Members can access it via the official NERA website (until the domain is permanently shut down) and on the official Facebook page (Naval Enlisted Reserve Association – NERA).
  • Passed: Motion by C. Cox, Seconded by G. Kleinmaier.

Important Dates to Remember

  • June 30, 2026: Deadline for Chapter funds return & Publication of the final Mariner. 
  • August 31, 2026: Official end date and permanent closure of NERA.
