Scholarship Recipients
$3,000 Grand Prize Winners
Madeline Morris
Instilled with long lasting pride and aspirations coming from her Senior Chief
grandfather, Miss Morris’ dedication is inspiring. She has embarked on an education that
will prepare her for a career in public health developing wellness programs for aging adults.
Madeline is currently studying Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Miss Morris has played competitive soccer since the age of five and presently plays for the
University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh soccer team, serving as the team captain.
Miss Morris was a previous NERA Scholarship recipient in 2016 and in 2018.
Ariana Ellsey
Miss Ellsey, a high achiever all around is an impressive scholar and athlete. She maintains
a GPA of 3.7, achieved the rank of Cadet Captain in her high school JROTC program,
was promoted to CPO on her United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps and achieved her 2nd
Degree black belt in Taekwondo. Miss Ellsey was also high school president of her senior
class. She was an Ambassador Girl Scout and a Head Altar Server at her church.
Miss Ellsey plans to be a teacher, currently studying elementary education and American
studies at Stonehill College in North Easton, MA. Miss Ellsey was a previous NERA
Scholarship recipient in 2018.
$2,500 NERA Scholarship Winners
Mandy Abernathy
Mandy Abernathy received high praise from her faculty members and teachers. She has
a 3.8 GPA and has been selected for an undergraduate research program hosted by the
Mathematical Biosciences Institute this summer. She will be working on the role of blood
flow regulation and oxygen transport in glaucoma. She is a student at Wisconsin Lutheran
College.
