Evan Chase
Evan Chase, is headed for a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a GPA of 3.56. He is
working toward a career in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. He has been preparing for
this future by serving as a volunteer instructor at the Invention Studio at Georgia Tech.
Mr. Chase loves repairing, modifying and modernizing old cars and racing them. He also
participates in intramural sports, including running and racquetball including participat-
ing in the state championship team cross country and track competitions.
Chloe Fountain
Chloe Fountain has a passion for math and science. She has an impressive 4.57 weighted
average GPA. She will be pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering. She is immersed
in the ever changing field of chemical engineering and feels that there will be something
there to keep her intrigued for the rest of her life. She has performed as the swim coach
for the special Olympic team for Catawba County for the last two years working with the
Catfish swim team. While participating in the Army JR ROTC, Miss Fountain cites her
father’s service in the Navy Reserve as her inspiration as he served his 21 years through
Desert Shield, Desert Storm and the aftermath of 9/11.
Kyle Sheedy
Kyle Sheedy plans to become a Civil Engineer with a minor in International Relations
and has a weighted GPA OF 4.06. He writes about becoming an intelligence officer or
a helicopter pilot. He is enrolling in the University of Maryland or the University of
Connecticut.
Congratulations to these scholarship recipients. You are an inspiration to
