Scholarship Winners 2021
Jessica Wollesen
Jessica maintained a 4.0 GPA in her first year at the
Colorado School of Mines where she is studying
biomedical engineering. Her major is in chemical engineering with a biological specialty and
double minoring in biomedical engineering and biology. Jessica aspires to work as a pharma-
ceutical engineer, experimenting, testing and developing medicines and eventually work to
improving bioprinting. Currently, biomedical engineers have made major steps in the develop-
ment of processes to print structures using organic tissue, utilizing stem cells from the patients
in order to minimize the possibility of implant rejection.
While maintaining a 4.0 GPA, Jessica has volunteered as an administrative assistant for the
Colorado School of Mines Student Services Office. After returning to her home town in
Bakersfield, Ca, she has worked full time.
Anna Kranis
Anna graduated from Wantagh High in New York with a GPA of 94.3 (weighted average). She
will be attending LIU CW Post with a focus in veterinary technology, intending to become a
veterinarian. An early episode of her life with a dear pet led her in this direction.
While in high school, Anna participated in the IEA Equestrian competition where she attended
practices and competitions in horse riding. She also volunteered on homecoming and fund-
raising events and clubs. Anna was inducted into the Foreign Language Honor Society Ford
outstanding achievement in Italian.
Michael Corney
Michael is enrolled in LaSalle University, majoring in computer science. He aspires to blend
his technical knowledge with his artistic imagination. He graduated from Central Bucks High
School South in Warrington, Pennsylvania with a GPA of 4.04 (weighted average). He let-
tered in baseball, playing all four years of his high school. Michael also attended courses at the
University of Salamanca in Spain.
For the last three years he has volunteered with the OEG (Operation Eternal Gratitude), which
sends care packages to military personnel serving overseas. They also participate with the Fill a
Boot and Operation Homefront campaigns.
